“I enjoy fighting for those that can’t fight for themselves. It’s nice to come into work every day knowing that we are all truly helping our clients”
Shannon J. Marino joined Franklin D. Azar & Associate P.C. in February 2013. Shannon participated with her first jury trial within six months of starting with the Azar firm. Not only did we win, we received a verdict that was far more than what was expected. This is a testament to Shannon’s character of fighting for her clients.
Ever since she was a child, Shannon always knew she wanted to be an attorney. At a young age, Shannon was raised by a single mother. Shannon’s mother taught her the value of hard work and investing in herself. The grit and determination Shannon’s used to accomplish her goals is reflected in the service she gives to her clients.
Shannon’s first job was as a receptionist at a real estate law firm while in high school. Always a fan of Florida State University, Shannon became a Seminole and received her undergraduate degree in 2004. After obtaining her bachelors, she continued worked her way up to a legal assistant. When the economy crashed in 2008, Shannon went back to school for her Master’s in Business Administration at Stetson University. Several of her professors during her Undergraduate and Masters program encouraged her to go to law school. A career step she decided to take serious after obtaining her Masters degree in 2008.
Shannon attended the Florida Coastal School of Law where she graduated Cum Laude in 2011. While in law school, she worked as a certified legal intern in the Florida Coastal Disabilities and Public Benefits Clinic. She represented clients in various areas including Social Security Disability Claims, Medicaid and Medicare benefits, guardianships and advanced directives. Being recognized for her hard work, Ms. Marino received the Pro Bono Honors Award for her dedicated work to the underserved community.
Shannon J. Marino is licensed to practice law in Florida and became licensed to practice in Colorado in 2012. She is an active member of the Florida Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. She also holds affiliations with the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity, Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Fraternity, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, and the Florida State University Alumni Association.
A proud working mother of three young children, Shannon can be found on soccer fields, at swim practice, at the barn with the horses, and shuttling to different school events. If it’s not spending time with her husband or playing with her two dogs, Shannon can be found keeping close connection to her siblings. Shannon is proud of her large and diverse family. Members of her family include military service members, ranchers, teachers, fire fighters, a rocket scientist (literally), an airline pilot, film makers, engineers, lawyers, homemakers, musicians, social workers, immigrants and western frontier settlers. Shannon comes from a long line of strong and courageous individuals which has helped shape her into who she is today.
