“A lawyer's either a social engineer, or he's a parasite on society” — Charles Hamilton Houston

Doug Baier, who was born and raised in Holcomb, Kansas, has always had a passion for helping others, and that led him to pursue a legal education. He graduated in 2007, summa cum laude, from Kansas State University with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Leadership Studies. At K-State, Doug was active in Greek Life, serving as his fraternity’s president. Additionally, he was a student ambassador for the School of Leadership Studies. After earning his degree, Doug went on to attend the University of Miami School of Law. While in law school, he interned for the Health and Elder Law Clinic and was an Equal Justice Sumer Corps fellow at the Miami Dade Public Defender’s Office. Doug graduated cum laude in 2010 with his Juris Doctor. He is licensed to practice law in Colorado, California, Washington, and Florida.

After law school, Doug spent his first year working as a public defender in Miami, FL. In this position, he represented youth charged with both misdemeanors and felonies. He was first chair on over 10 bench trials and successfully argued numerous motions to suppress evidence. After moving to Seattle, WA, Doug gained experience at personal injury firms where he represented clients in personal injury, workers’ compensation, and social security disability cases. In these positions, Doug found success in multiple jury trials, administrative hearings, and appeals at the Federal District Court. In 2017, Doug relocated to Los Angeles, CA, and started practicing with an insurance defense firm. This experience taught Doug the tactics insurance companies use to try to undervalue and underpay individuals that have been harmed by no fault of their own. Doug has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Doug is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado LGBT Bar Association, and Mile High Young Professionals.

In 2019, Doug had the opportunity to transfer with a prior firm from Los Angeles to Denver. Growing up in western Kansas, he was excited about being closer to his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephew. Outside of work, he likes to spend time in the mountains skiing or camping, running, and playing volleyball.
